Cycle mania

FEATURE: Need more iron in your diet? Eat a bicycle.
We are in the Land of the Adjustable Saddle.
Ownership of two wheels (or one) is de rigueur,
if not actually mandatory. As far as the police
are concerned, riding two up and bicycle theft
are crimes as heinous as murder. Gangsters and
hotrodders travel in loud, conspicuous convoys
unmolested by the boys in blue, but woe betide
you if you are caught on an unregistered bike.
The bicycle is ecological warrior, style statement,
health machine and infernal pest, depending
whether you are riding, dodging one or having
your eardrums drilled out by the squeal of unmaintained
brakes on a mamachari. This month,
with articles on the International Bicycle Fund,
bike maintenance, touring here and abroad and
racing, KS takes long look at the not-so-secret
life of the bicycle.
Please direct any questions, comments or rants/raves about the KS site to the webmaster. |
