Please sir, can I not have some more?

Feature : Our food is supposed to nourish us. It also helps determine our quality of life and helps define us both culturally and as individuals. Yet it seems that eating is becoming a risky activity - food manufacturers manipulate our food. When they are not filling it with fat and sugar, they contaminate it deliberately with additives or accidentally with viruses or pollutants. Marketers manipulate our perceptions of our food, persuading us that crud is good. Fast food outlets proliferate making towns from San Bernadino, where the first McDonalds opened, to Osaka look similar. This month KS takes a look into the food pail and decides not to ask for seconds.
